After one of the coldest mountain ascents I’ve had, we reached the summit of Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s highest, at 8.45 am 3 days ago. A vicious wind had kept us in pain for hours during the climb but the reward was worth it all: skiing back down!

The Mont Blanc 4810m is one of the most attracted summits in the world having about 30 000 climbing parties going for the top each year. It also has a reputation of being one of the deadliest mountains in the world, perhaps because Mont Blanc goes for being a technically easy ascent without major difficulties such as sections of more demanding climbing. However, there are enough stories to understand that Mont Blanc must not be underestimated despite its gentle shape.
