The big mountain Vågakallen on Lofoten is majestic, especially in the winter when the snow and ice has dressed up the north east face in white hoarfrost and blue stripes of ice.

Last weekend it was time for the annual Lofoten Alpine Climbing Meet and we were many climbers who had come to the magic Islands to place our axes in the mixed alpine terrain. It was my first time with axes, crampons and an open objective to find a nice line to climb at the mighty mountain Vågakallen.
